Nutrition and Literary Promotion
BOYS AND GIRLS’ CLUB
The Psi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma was pleased to receive a $500.00 Sigma State Action Grant for use in the promotion of literacy. Psi Chapter members recognize how important mastering the often- ignored nonfiction genre of literature is for young people. For this grant Psi Chapter will work in conjunction with our local Boys’ and Girls’ Club in Cumberland, WI, and other community partners to use cookbooks and other nonfiction literary materials to create opportunities for middle and high school students and about nutrition and to introduce and teach students in grades 5-12 about the nonfiction genre in ways that are educational and fun.
PSI members will work individually and in small groups to teach young people about working with cookbooks and computer journaling. With the young people, they will prepare and serve nutritious meals on site at the area Boys’ and Girls’ Club in Cumberland, WI.
